by Stacy Sheets

107.jpgDance 101, located in the Loehman’s shopping center on the corner of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff Road, is celebrating its 4th year Anniversary. In the spirit of ’tis better to give than receive, the dance studio is offering free dance class all week, April 7th -13th!! (Sorry I am just letting you know about this now)

Check out their website for a list of daily classes and times: www.dance101.org

You’ll find classes from Jazz, Ballet, Bellydance, Hip-Hop, Broadway, Abs, and a ton more of really interesting, unique classes. Since I missed out on them earlier this week, I am going to try to cram as many classes in as I can for the end of the week on into the weekend.

Also - If you like the classes, the studio is offering discounted prices for future visits.
Anniversary Specials:
6 classes for $50 (new students only)
4 months for $440 (a $160 savings!)
Any purchases made during this week will be discounted 10%
*SALE ENDS APRIL 13TH*

Helpful Hint: Come early to the classes because there is limited space…and you know people come out of the woodworks for something free.

New Classes Recently Added to the Dance 101 Schedule:

Discover Latin Jazz with Ofelia , Tuesday 6-7pm
Latin Jazz classes are popping up everywhere these days and for good reason. Spurred by a growing appreciation for Latin culture and music, Salsa is fast becoming as American as apple pie. Just about everyone knows how to do it, and if they don’t, they want to learn how. Our Latin Jazz class does not require a partner; you are on your own. Latin jazz is a Latin American blend; combining broadway style jazz (100% American) and salsa (100% Latin). For the American angle, take Tim’s class on Saturdays 11:30, a beautifully trained technical jazz dancer whose first love was Salsa. Or for the Latin angle, take Ofelia’s class on Tuesdays 6pm, who first learned salsa from her Cuban parents at age 10. This class combines basic salsa moves with simple jazz in a highly aerobic package. Come live La Vida Loca with us.

*This class will replace Discover Jazz Basics

Pointe Optional Level 4 with Arian, Saturday 2-3:30pm
All the refinement classical ballet has to offer but with a twist. Pointe Optional, a contemporary ballet class, combines all the discipline and beauty of classical ballet with the freedom to take your body and imagination anywhere it can go. On your toes or flexed and free, it is an updated expression of dance that allows today’s ballet dancer to push the constraints of classical style while still maintaining the elegance that ballet embodies. With a background that spans classical to contemporary, Arian Keddel is the embodiment of her lifelong training; a beautiful dancer and a wonderful teacher. Her passion for movement evident in the depth of her knowledge and her willingness to share it with her students. As the name implies, pointe shoes are optional. If you have them, put them on and step into a new world of contemporary ballet.
