Stephen King & John Mellencamp’s musical at the Alliance - POSTPONED
![]()
So here’s a post that’ll probably be news to you and then more new news….
Stephen King was set to write a spooky, scary musical entitled “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” for the Alliance theater’s 2009-2010 season. John Mellencamp was going to write the music for the spooky, scary musical.
Obviously, I’m setting this up like something wrong has happened in the fruition of this new, would-be very popular production.
What’s the hold-up? Well it’s….
Stephen King.
He did not stay on schedule with writing the script and therefore, the production will not be ready for next year’s season of plays at Alliance. Alliance Theater is currently looking for a replacement for the musical.
“While we are obviously saddened by the need to postpone our premiere
of `Ghost Brothers, `we understood going in—as there always is—there
was an element of risk in committing to the premiere of a major new
musical,” Alliance artistic director Susan V. Booth said in a press
release.
Geez…Stephen King…I was really looking forward to seeing this..Keep your fingers crossed for 2011!!!

Stephen King + John Mellencamp = spooks so good.
Ehh. Anyway, since it’s postponed, here’s a tremendously cool thing happening in Atlanta next week: ISEF.
It’s sort of the Olympics of science fairs, it’s been taking place annually in a different American city every year, this year it’s in Atlanta at the World Congress Center, and it’s FREE.
Something like 1500 high school geniuses, from places like Argentina and Turkey and Indiana, will all be competing with their science projects for big money cash, scholarships, research grants etc– this kid from Brazil took discarded washing machine parts and invented an industrial bread maker for use in community kitchens.
That’s a show.
