If you’re planning on staying in the city this weekend and are looking for more activities than friends and family barbeques, here’s a couple of ideas…
Atlanta Jazz Festival - May 24 - 26, Don’t go to Piedmont Park this year because the festival has moved to Woodruff Park. It’s a free event, but leave your grills, tents, and pets at home.. Decatur Arts Festival - May24-25, In it’s 20th year, the festival offers a film festival, new dance, literary arts performances, musicians all day long on Decatur’s downtown bandstand, a juried artists market, the fine arts exhibition, and a separate Children’s Arts Festival and more. Stone Mountain Park Laser Show and Salute to the Troops - May 24-26 Performing a free concert Sunday night is country music star Lee Greenwood, best known for his hit, “God Bless the U.S.A. ” Inspiring entertainment is provided by military bands followed by the 25th Anniversary Lasershow Spectacular™ and fireworks.
** I’m a native to Atlanta, and if you haven’t been to the Laser Show, I assure you…you haven’t lived! A piece of advice…go early, claim your space on the lawn…a buy a glow in the dark necklace.
Georgia Renaissance Festival - open thru Memorial Day weekend, including Memorial Day.. Eat a huge turkey leg, get your hair in old fashioned braids, watch some jousting.. It’s silly fun, good times. More info. and ticket prices visit their website: www.garenfest.com
