Georgia Tech fires head football coach - Chan Gailey

200px-clean_old-fashioned_hate.jpgp1_gailey.jpgGeorgia’s football team beats Georgia Tech for the Seventh Year in a row!! Score 31 – 17. And then get this…the Georgia Tech coach gets fired two days later.

Even though I am a graduate from the University of Georgia, I never much got into the football world. This is an oddity because Athens, Georgia loves some Georgia football. The Friday before a game RVs start driving into town and parking on campus. The town turns into a sea of red and black. I have always been a big fan of the tailgating – but the games I can take or leave.

The only game I really enjoyed was the Georgia – Georgia Tech football game due to the school rivalry. I remember sitting in the stands and listening to UGA students cheer “You school color is the color of pee,” “Nerds,” “Go do your homework.” I mean really prolific statements.

But anywho – today is was announced that Georgia Tech’s head football coach, Chan Gailey, was fired after coaching six seasons. During his duration as head coach, Georgia Tech never beat Georgia. Since he still had four more years on his contract, this guy’s getting $4 million dollars. Holy… Apparently a lot of fans disliked the coach. Towards the end of the Georgia Tech – Virginia Tech game, Georgia Tech losing 27-3, fans booed Gailey when he appeared in a public service announcement on the big screen. No new coach has been announced.
