DRAGONCON!!!!!!!!!!!

by

Hey Atlanta - It’s Labor Day weekend…and we all know what that means…DRAGONCON!

Dragon*Con: the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US.

But much more importantly - it hosts a Klingon beauty pageant..Oh yea…

Dragon*Con 2008 will be held Labor Day weekend (August 29 - September 1, 2008) in Atlanta, GA

And really the BEST part about this is THE PEOPLE WATCHING.

Let me go ahead and say I have never been to this eclectic convention. I have seen lots of pictures and heard lots of stories.

Did you know there’s even a parade to see all the intense constumes?? That’s worth getting up Saturday morning to go line Peachtree street to see. Way more interesting than the Peachtree Road Race will ever be..

My coworker Melissa is going to it this year with her brother. She is most excited about the paranormal section and says she’s excited about “meeting the ghost hunters.”

Jessica has been to previous Dragon Cons and says this about her experience “It’s definetly an eye opening experience. There’s something for everyone, even if you never thought you’d like this kind of thing. So if you can get past the lines, it’s a fun weekend.”

Anna, like myself has never been to DragonCon, and shares her views on the convention. “I don’t even read Harry Potter - I don’t watch Harry Potter. I think that’s probably child’s play for DragonCon; so solely based on my lack of HP knowledge, I feel like I’d be very out of my element in that setting.”
She also reinterates: In my opinion, clicking on a mouse does not a movie make.

For all the Harry Potter fans check out the blog Hogwarts Herald.

  1. Jason Says:

Why would she think it’s a Harry Potter con? It’s been around long before the HP books.
There are a couple of HP guests and HP is part of it, but it is not an HP con.

Anyone who can’t find something they’re interested in at DragonCon has got to be pretty darn boring. If nothing else the parade is worth watching… even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan.
