Dolphins swim into Atlanta in 2010

Dolphins will be saying “Home Sweet Home” to Atlanta as the Georgia Aquarium builds on just for them… Maybe you’re thinking as I often do when I see a cute animal… I want one… Well, to build on a special home for these dolphins is setting the aquarium back $110 million bucks.. Holy.. So that’s where all that admission money went..
The addition will add 84,000 square feet to the aquarium - that’s like 2 football fields- and includes a 1.3 million gallon tank (still nothing like the ocean home they were once accustomed too but better than Seaworld).
The new dolphin home will encompass areas like dolphin encounters, viewing windows and dolphin shows. The bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) that will initially inhabit the Aquarium’s new building will come from Marineland’s Dolphin Conservation Center.
In the Aquarium’s press release, Bernie Marcus (bagillionaire who owns the aquarium) promises, “This is the next ‘BIG WOW’ the attraction that will continue to bring millions of people to downtown Atlanta and make it the most interesting and exciting facility in the world.” Did he say in the world?? That’s quite alot to live up to. Especially since I personally find the Georgia Aquarium to feel more like Six Flags than an educational, awe-inspiring aquatic spot. I like the ambiance and educational material found at the Chattanooga Aquarium - but I will def. want to see the dolphins. Dolphins and I have a bond… I would be jealous…

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.
