Cubs Sweep the Braves…and Chipper Jones gets knickname Mr. Disappointment
![]()
The Chicago Cubs won all three games against the Atlanta Braves - But I have to say what’s more upsetting than that is to go to the Braves HOME stadium and it be filled with “Cubbies.” The Cub fans cheered over Braves fans - cheering “Lets go Cubbies.” The only thing that shut them up was the Braves sound system blasting the tomahawk chop anthem.
I am a native to Atlanta and therefore an Atlanta Braves fan. Recently, I visited Chicago and completely understand how you become a Cubs fan. There’s so much pride in Chicago. Heck, I almost wanted to become a Cubs fan. To be a part of an unwavering pride. We just lack that here in Atlanta. Plus there are so many transplants, we’re a melting pot of the US.
Anywho - now I go on to show you why were bad Atlanta Braves fans.. I AM SO UPSET WITH CHIPPER JONES. He and Javy Lopez used to be my favorites players, but now Chipper Jones is Mr. Disappointment. When he USED to come to bat, we had a good chance of a homerun or getting on base (atleast). Now it’s like he gets right back to his dugout seat and it’s still warm from when he left it.
What happend to Chipper Jones?? Is it time to retire or be traded?? I’m sorry (sorta) to say I’m a-okay with either decision.
On another note - HELLO Kotsay…You are my new favorite player. Last night when he came to bat, I’d say watch this guy, he’s good…And he was…Home run, 1st base, 2nd base hits… AMAZING….
If you want to check out a Braves game, there are some super cheap seats available: check out my earlier post.

Thank you for acknowledging what I have tried to tell many people here in Atlanta…they have no pride in their professional sports teams. Most people only cheer for college teams and a good portion of these individuals never went or dropped out.
I live in Atlanta, but I am from Chicago. Chicago fans are the best. The city comes alive and supports their team whenever they play.
When the Bears played the Colts in the Superbowl the skyscrapers arranged their lights to say, “Super Bears”, Da Bears”, “Bears”, Bear Down Bears”…I don’t know of any other city that comes together like that. It is for this reason that I am a huge advocate for the Olympics to be in Chicago!

You are totally right. The falcons have been a mess although they did reach for the fences and win their last game. But Carl, it was not always this way. I remember in the early and mid 90’s when the braves and falcons were hugely popular. Lets how it is like the economy and will spring back…although that doesn’t look to be happening anytime soon either.
