How many productions of the Christmas Carol are happening in Atlanta in 2008?

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

It’s really astonishing to me how many productions of the Christmas Carol happen around the city of Atlanta. So basically if you want to see this show.. well you have some options.

1. Most popular last year - Shakespeare Taven - Last year alot of their shows sold out. So you better get your tickets early this year.

499 Peachtree Street
Atlanta - Downtown, Midtown, GA, 30308
Dates: December 4-21
Ticket price: $12.00 - $34.00
Professional Theater

2. Alliance Theater - 19th year production - an Atlanta favorite. I remember seeing this show at Alliance many years ago. It was very impressive and sent shivers down my spine.

Woodruff Arts Center
1280 Peachtree St,
Atlanta - Downtown, Midtown, GA, 30309
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 24
Ticket price: $20.00 - $50.00
Professional Theater

3. Academy Theater

119 Center St
Avondale Estates, GA, 30002
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 21
Ticket price: $12.00 - $20.00

4. Dad’s Garage - A little comedic twist that only this theater group can get away with as they present Invasion: Christmas Carol. This show is not for kids.

280 Elizabeth Street
Atlanta - Little 5 Points, Grant Park, East Atlanta, GA, 30307
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 23
Ticket Price: $20-$22

5. The Renaissance Project - I love this theater group! If you’re looking for a great quality show and wanting to save a few bucks, this is a great option.

Cathedral at Chapel Hill

Decatur, GA, 30034
Dates: Dec 5 - Dec 21
Ticket Price: $15.00 - $18.00

6. The Rosewater Theater - This is a wonderful beautifully decorated theater in Roswell. If you’re otp and don’t want to bear the Atlanta traffic, then head straight over to Rosewater Theater. I personally know alot of actors in this show and can’t wait to see it.

Oktoberfest in Helen, GA

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

* Disclaimer of a slacker blogger: So upon researching Oktoberfest ideas for Atlanta, I found out that most of them occured over the weekend of late Sept. or mid Oct. However, probably the most notorious of them all and the greatest one of them all resides in Helen, GA..

Helen, GA: The little German town in North Georgia. During the day, you can browse their shops - You’ll def. want to check out the candy shops where you can get candy apples coated in lots of different assortments.. I think I remember seeing nerds as a coating once. Drink at the beer gardens, eat some sausage. By night the town heads over to Helen’s massive Festhalle. Dancing polka and lots of beer drinking..

Like a nice Oktoberfest beer — read on… (more…)

batman_01.jpg2110025535_8e488fd438_o.jpgOkay, so I’m not a die hard Batman fan - but I enjoy the movies just like the next guy. I’ve been a fan of the many changing Batmans…Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer…yes, yes…Christian Bale…yes to that too…

Here are some weekend ideas for Friday, November 9, 2007 through Sunday, November 11, 2007. Feel free to leave more ideas you have in the comments section.

University of Georgia plays Auburn. If you are a UGA fan, the Senior UGA football players are calling for a black-out. So come to the game dressed in all black.
(A little dreary – but hey black is the classic color – and all the fans should look slender)

Liquified presents Eric Prydz at Wetbar, Fri. Nov. 9, $15 at the door, 21 and up

Take a tour of the 2007 Atlanta Magazine Dream Home in the historic East Lake neighborhood. This house has a classic design but full of all the luxuries that only a small percentage of Americans can afford but all of us can dream of. For more information visit, atlantamagazinedreamhome.com

Shakespeare Tavern presents King John. 2-for-1 tickets on Fri. Nov. 9, call the box office and mention this special when you reserve tickets. For more information, visit their website at www.shakespearetavern.com
If you haven’t been to this theater, I HIGHLY recommend it. They have traditional English food available and beer/wine. The venue makes you feel like you’re at an authentic Shakespeare performance. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It’ll help you be smarter too.

Sketchworks Theatre’s comedy night Friday and Saturday night 8pm, Sunday 5pm. $15 tickets online, $17 door, DISCOUNT! Enter the promo code ATML for $5 off tickets online.
PLUS: A $55 Gift Certificate to “Six Feet Under” Pub & Fish House
