Are you a bad listener?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

One of my favorite parts of the movie Pulp Fiction is where Uma Thurman’s character is asking a few get to know you questions to John Travolta’s character. For example:

When someone’s talking are you really listening or just waiting to talk next?

If you’d honestly answer, waiting to talk next and c’mon… Alot of us are.. Or how many times have you been in a situation where you’re mid conversation and realize you have completely dazed off and have no idea what the conversation is about.

If you’re interested in learning some Deep Listening skills, check out this workshop at the Shambala Meditation Center from January 16 - 18th. (more…)

How many productions of the Christmas Carol are happening in Atlanta in 2008?

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

It’s really astonishing to me how many productions of the Christmas Carol happen around the city of Atlanta. So basically if you want to see this show.. well you have some options.

1. Most popular last year - Shakespeare Taven - Last year alot of their shows sold out. So you better get your tickets early this year.

499 Peachtree Street
Atlanta - Downtown, Midtown, GA, 30308
Dates: December 4-21
Ticket price: $12.00 - $34.00
Professional Theater

2. Alliance Theater - 19th year production - an Atlanta favorite. I remember seeing this show at Alliance many years ago. It was very impressive and sent shivers down my spine.

Woodruff Arts Center
1280 Peachtree St,
Atlanta - Downtown, Midtown, GA, 30309
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 24
Ticket price: $20.00 - $50.00
Professional Theater

3. Academy Theater

119 Center St
Avondale Estates, GA, 30002
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 21
Ticket price: $12.00 - $20.00

4. Dad’s Garage - A little comedic twist that only this theater group can get away with as they present Invasion: Christmas Carol. This show is not for kids.

280 Elizabeth Street
Atlanta - Little 5 Points, Grant Park, East Atlanta, GA, 30307
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 23
Ticket Price: $20-$22

5. The Renaissance Project - I love this theater group! If you’re looking for a great quality show and wanting to save a few bucks, this is a great option.

Cathedral at Chapel Hill
4650 Flat Shoals Pkwy
Decatur, GA, 30034
Dates: Dec 5 - Dec 21
Ticket Price: $15.00 - $18.00

6. The Rosewater Theater - This is a wonderful beautifully decorated theater in Roswell. If you’re otp and don’t want to bear the Atlanta traffic, then head straight over to Rosewater Theater. I personally know alot of actors in this show and can’t wait to see it.

633 Holcomb Bridge Rd
Roswell, GA, 30076
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 20
Ticket Price: $15.00 - $18.00

7. Kudzu Playhouse - This community theater is another alternative otp theater in Roswell.

10743 Alpharetta Highway
Brannon Square
Roswell, GA, 30076
Dates: Nov 28 - Dec 24
Ticket price: $13.00 - $19.50

I did this same list last year - check it out.

Which theater is your favorite one to see A Christmas Carol?

Saxby Chambliss or Jim Martin? You decide.. again.. TODAY

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

So all eyes are on Georgia.. for once..

We got Palin here, McCain, Clinton, Gore and… of course guys… it is the dirty South .. we had some rappers show up too..

This little Southern state called Georgia could be a swaying decision on the Senate going mostly Democrat or Republican. On November 4th with record number of voters turning out, neither Chambliss nor Martin got more than 50% of the public vote. Therefore.. We get a runoff

Now - Chambliss has always been in the lead and got a bit more votes than Martin on Nov. 4th.. But I know alot less people are showing up today.. I haven’t voted yet.. but will be going after work since the polls are open until 7pm today …. and since this blog is not an unbiased blog.. Thank God. I’ll tell you who I am voting for… (more…)
