King Tut at the Civic Center Nov 15 - May 2009

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Who was King Tut?: King Tut, short for his full name Tutankhamun, was an Egyptian Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty (ruled 1333 BC – 1324 BC). The 1922 discovery by Howard Carter of Tutankhamun’s intact tomb received worldwide press coverage and sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt, for which Tutankhamun’s burial mask remains the popular face.

What is at the exhibit?

Tutankhamun The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs is a new exhibition that will make its North American debut in Atlanta on November 15, 2008 and will continue onto Indianapolis in June of 2009.

The exhibition features 50 objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun including the gold sandals that adorned the mummies feet and a beautifully adorned canopic jar that mummified his internal organs.

In addition to Tutankhamun, the exhibition’s artifacts highlight many of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt such as Khefren, whose great pyramid is the only remaining structure of the seven wonders of the ancient world and Hatshepsut, the queen who became king.

So I checked Pollster.com and Georgia is currently light red. Meaning we’re not a strong Republican majority but more so than we are democratic…

Current polls for Georgia are: For a t-shirt like this, visit zazzle.com

McCain 49.7%
Obama 44.3%

Then I just saw an article on Politcal Wire entitled - Could Georgia Flip to the Democrats?

Here are some highlights from the article released today….

Oktoberfest in Helen, GA

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

* Disclaimer of a slacker blogger: So upon researching Oktoberfest ideas for Atlanta, I found out that most of them occured over the weekend of late Sept. or mid Oct. However, probably the most notorious of them all and the greatest one of them all resides in Helen, GA..

Helen, GA: The little German town in North Georgia. During the day, you can browse their shops - You’ll def. want to check out the candy shops where you can get candy apples coated in lots of different assortments.. I think I remember seeing nerds as a coating once. Drink at the beer gardens, eat some sausage. By night the town heads over to Helen’s massive Festhalle. Dancing polka and lots of beer drinking..

Like a nice Oktoberfest beer — read on… (more…)
