Special films announced for Fernbank’s Martinis and IMAX

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

lg-film-imax.jpgimax3.jpgimage_779424.jpgVoted Best Place for a First Date - Fernbank’s Martinis and IMAX releases its film line-up for 2008. Whether you’re on a date, a girl’s night out, or just going for the sake of oversized footage and alcohol…Fernbank has planned a great Friday night activity. Martinis, beer, wine, jazz bands beforehand..and IMAX film afterwards. I don’t recommend it as a total night plan but a great way to jump start your Friday.

Want to swim with a whale shark? Okay…you can.

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

whlshrk.jpgheader.jpgThe Georgia Aquarium is offering the opportunity to swim or SCUBA dive in their 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager tank with the whale sharks, zebra sharks, sawfish, leopard whiprays, bowmouth guitarfish, and more under the water creatures. redandbrownwater.jpgLast night, I had the pleasure of seeing the play In the Red and Brown Water on the Hertz Stage at the Alliance Theater. It was fantastic! What a fresh script and a talented cast. The storyline follows the character Oya coming to womanhood and the challenges she encounters with losing and discovering love, seeing the world change around her while she seems to remain stagnant in the outside world but not so much inside. The Civil War Museum…next best thing to the Cyclorama

Monday, February 4th, 2008

civil-war-lincoln-pinkerton.jpggeneralfromfront.jpgThis entry is dedicated to my Canadian friend Dave. There really is a Civil War Museum, and I was right - it is in Kennesaw.

me: I didn’t know about a civil war museum…
Dave: yeah - in buckhead
me: Are you talking about the Atlanta History Museum?
Dave: Maybe… I don’t remember much except for civil war stuff - but maybe it was called the Atlanta History museum –
me: Oh…I bet there is a civil war museum here
I would think it’d be in like Kennesaw
Dave: I think it is too bad that Atlanta has such a neat history, but there just isn’t much of it left
me: Well the city was burnt down Dave…you can blame Sherman for our lack of historical places

The Civil War Museum opened on March 20, 2003, and as one website describes it as “What a treat.” The Museum was formerly knows as the Big Shanty Museum (that alone makes me want to go) and also highlights the locomotive history. (more…)
