Atlanta blog schedule

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Well, I’ve been writing the Atlanta blog now for a few weeks and covering topics as they hit me. However, I have come up with a schedule of categories to cover for each day so you know what to expect and what days to look back-on for various Atlanta information:

Sunday or Monday: Miscellaneous/Rant or Rave about Atlanta

Tuesday: Important Atlanta figure or history on Atlanta

Wednesday: Restaurant review

Thursday: Art in Atlanta (theater, museum, movies, etc.)

Friday: Upcoming weekend ideas

Then of course if something pressing comes up - this schedule will not stand.

Leave me a comment about other Atlanta topics you want to hear about or if you’re coming to Atlanta and want to know something specific.

TGIM!

This year’s Peachtree Road Race was a hit

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

The 2007 Peachtree Road Race t-shirt designAs I wrote before, this was my first year running the Peachtree Road Race and it was a BLAST! I totally recommend anyone in Atlanta to run it next year. There are people who walk the entire race, so you don’t have to be a runner to do it.

My official time was 1hr 15min. The winner of the Peachtree Road Race, Martin Irungu from Kenya, ran it in 28 minutes. The length of the race was 6.2 miles. So basically, I didn’t feel the ribbon across the finish line and probably never will. Unless someone sets one up for me and I’m the only one running.

The Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

peach.jpgpeach.jpgTomorrow, the Forth of July, celebrates another birthday for this country AND the first time I attempt to run a road race. That’s right, tomorrow, I will be one of 54,500 runners pacing my way down Peachtree Street, from Lenox Mall to Piedmont Park, in an attempt to get excercise, call myself a runner, but really I just want the t-shirt. I once joined a sorority just to get the t-shirts, so you can see how excited I am about getting it. Did you know that the design on the t-shirt is a mystery? You only find out when they hand it to you and you actually have to finish the race before you get one. That may seem obvious to most of you, but for us nonrunners its a serious trophy that I will be showing off.

The most important thing I am thinking about for tomorrow is I can’t run a 10K. In fact, when I start running, I immediately think when do I get to stop. So…I am going to strap on my IPOD, eagerly accept water at each mile marker, and run as far as my petite legs will take me.

Happy Birthday America!

Kashi $5 Yoga in Atlanta

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Yoga class at KashiKashi Yoga, located in the Candler Park neighborhood, offers $5 drop-in classes on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 4:30pm. The class is cheap because it is taught by their grad students who are learning to become full-fledged yoga instructors.

It’s basically the best yoga class deal in Atlanta. Most studios charge $15 for a drop-in class. Also, the studio itself offers a great combination between the reaching your zen, peaceful state and getting a challenging yoga experience.

Also, check out their Detox sessions - they sound very intense! www.kashiatlanta.org
